Description

Web-CAT is released as a WAR archive, and is available from our SourceForge downloads page.

This page characterizes the various releases of the main Web-CAT WAR archive. Because Web-CAT consists of many subsystems, each subsystem has its own separate version number and change history. The releases described below characterize which versions of which subsystems were included in each WAR distribution.

Once an institution installs a particular version of the WAR, Web-CAT will keep its subsystems up-to-date by automatically downloading and installing the latest release of each subsystem via our update site. As a result, comments from newer releases may still be applicable to your Web-CAT installation, even if you originally installed an older version of the WAR.

To see the current Web-CAT release number, look in the footer of each Web-CAT page. The version number is displayed as "v1.3.1/..." or something similar. The portion of the version number before the slash is the main Web-CAT version number, corresponding to the entries in the release list below. The remaining numbers after the slash give a composite indication of subsystem version numbers and build dates. If you are a Web-CAT administrator, you can use the Subsystems sub-tab under the Administer tab to see the full version number details for all installed subsystems.
