Selecting Submissions
The following instructions will guide you through the process of selecting students' previous submissions in order to modify and/or regrade their scores. From the Web-CAT home page:
Click on the View/modify grades for previous submissions in the "Tasks you can perform" menu.
Select the course for the assignment by choosing the radio button next to it. Click Next >. This brings you to the View/Edit Grades page.
The View/Edit Grades pages provides information of the student that submitted the project and the points received. The following information is provided:
- Student's name
- Submission number
- Time and date the submission was made
- Points received from testing, tool checks, and the TA
- The total score
Note:
If the TA has given a grade, the score will appear as a link. If no grade has been given by the TA, the link will say: <edit>. This link will allow you to modify scores.
- The radio button next to the students name will remain empty if no TA grade is submitted and partially filled if a grade is given but not completed. See the Modifying Scores instructions for completing a grade.
Modifying Scores
You can use the feature for modifying scores to either regrade submissions or edit the TA's existing grade. The points given by the TA are not bound by points listed for maximum TA points earned. For example, if the TA is required to make adjustments of any kind, the adjustment is made in the TA's points earned field. To edit an existing grade:
Click the link (the TA's grade or <edit>) for the student's grade you wish to change on the View/Edit Grades page.
Enter or re-enter a grade in the field following Enter total TA points earned:.
- You may add additional comments in the text area below for the student to view in their report.
Check the Grading complete? check box at the lower right of the screen to finalize the student's grade. Leave the check box unselected to keep the radio button half filled as a reminder to finalize grading.
Note: You may still go back and edit grades at any time, but you must de-select the Grading Complete? check box.
Click Finish.
You will we re-routed back to the Web-Cat home page.

After selecting the link for the student's grade you wish to change, there's an option to Regrade Submission under the student's name.
De-select the Grading Complete? check box.
Click Regrade Submission
After clicking this option, a warning
appears. This will delete ALL prior submissions and any partners associated with the assignment. Click Cancel to abort
You will be re-directed back to the View/Edit Grades page
Click Proceed to continue and re-grade
You will be re-directed back to the View/Edit Grades page, but you will notice that the TA's grade no longer appears and the <edit> link reappears
